Homemade Rice Cereal

Between 4-6 months is the recommended age to introduce your baby to solid foods. Here is an easy recipe for Brown rice cereal.

1/4c. uncooked organic brown rice
1c. water

Pulse the rice in a blender until it is a powder. In a small saucepan bring water to a medium heat. Stir in brown rice powder and reduce the heat to low. Cook 4-5 minutes, occasionally whisking so it remains smooth. It will be thick. Add breastmilk or prepared formula to thin out. You can add a dash of cinnamon to spice up your baby taste buds.

Tip: You can refrigerate the leftovers for 72 hours, or freeze individual portions in an ice cube tray!

** I also make oatmeal for Natalie. I do the same with the rice but reduce the water to 1/2c. and cook for about 2-3 minutes. She loves it!

This is Natalie's Favorite Food of all time!

Sweet Potatoes:

2 med Sweet potatoes
** optional Breastmilk or prepared Formula

Bring a medium size pot of water to a boil. Peel and cube 2 sweet potatoes. PLace in boiling water and boil until the potatoes are soft about 10min. Reserve about 1/4 cup of the water. In a blender (or my fav the vita mixer) blend the potatoes adding the hot water slowly to thin out to the right consistency. Pour into ice cube tray. I have theBaby food saver made by Beaba. It's the best!
**Tip: i only use breastmilk to thin out when i reheat the portions. I feel like when you freeze and reheat any of the baby food with breastmilk in it... it smells and can taste a little funky. So i just use fresh milk to add into any of the fruits or veggies that i've reheated.
